Foote examines how staffing shortages, low wages, high turnover, and profit-driven business practices can undermine the quality of care provided by skilled nursing facilities.
Foote also discusses the opportunity presented by Anchorum Health Foundation’s plans for a new skilled nursing facility in Santa Fe. She emphasizes that building a new facility is only the first step and calls for higher standards centered on fair compensation for caregivers, safe staffing levels, reinvestment in patient care, and greater accountability to families and the community.
