Motorcycle accidents can cause extreme heartache and grief for the families and loved ones of a victim. They are often faced with not only losing a loved one but can be plagued with financial stress during an emotional time. Unfortunately, a recent New Mexico crash has shown just how dangerous motorcycle accidents can be.
A 67-year-old man was killed when the motorcycle he was riding and another motorcycle, operated by a 59-year-old man, crashed into each other. Both men were transported to a nearby medical facility, but the 67-year-old succumbed to his injuries. The other man was treated and released. He was arrested after his release for suspicion of drunk driving after he not only smelled of alcohol but had slurred speech as well, according to reports. Paramedics reported finding a cooler with alcoholic beverages in it, one of which was almost empty.
The man refused a blood test but supposedly admitted he had consumed beer for breakfast that morning. It was noted that the victim in this accident had not consumed any alcohol according to test results. As the investigation continues, the man could be facing numerous charges. In the meantime, the victim’s family is facing a trying time of moving on without their loved one, but could also be facing a financial struggle as well.
Unfortunately, motorcycle accidents claim the lives of many citizens each year. New Mexico residents that have lost a loved one in an accident where they feel negligence played a part in the death may wish to look into their right to file a civil suit against the negligent party. Making informed decisions can be difficult during an emotional time.
