Losing a loved one in New Mexico due to the carelessness of nursing home staff is grounds for a lawsuit. One woman in a different state said her father died as a result of nursing home neglect. She has thus filed a legal suit against the nursing and rehab facility responsible for his care.
According to the woman's suit, the facility did not make sure that her father was appropriately hydrated and given proper nutrition. The nursing care facility also did not prevent or treat the man's pressure sores. The facility furthermore failed to develop a comprehensive plan of rehabilitative and restorative care.
The woman also accused the facility of not sharing information with his family regarding changes in the man's condition. The man ended up dying as a result of the alleged neglect. The woman is seeking a total of over $50,000 in damages as part of the lawsuit.
Nursing home facilities have a duty to care for their residents, who are typically elderly and are some of the most vulnerable members of the population. When a facility is accused of nursing home neglect and abuse, it may be held accountable for its actions through the legal system. The surviving loved ones of the resident believed to have died due to negligence have the right to file a legal suit against the facility, seeking damages. Any monetary damages achieved from this type of suit may help to cover expenses tied to the case, such as burial costs and pain and suffering in New Mexico.
