Woman Dies After Her Car Burns Completely In Serious Accident

A car crash has resulted in the death of one woman and injuries to three others. The serious accident happened at approximately 2:30 a.m. on a recent Sunday morning. Tragically, the deceased woman was in a car that caught on fire and burned completely. This crash did not occur in New Mexico, but rather in a neighboring state.

According to investigators, the crash happened when a westbound sport utility vehicle rammed into two other cars that had been waiting at a red traffic signal. The force of the impact caused the two struck vehicles to collide with another car and a pickup truck. The sport utility vehicle caught on fire and ended up on its side.

Bystanders pulled two people from the sport utility vehicle in spite of it being on fire. However, another vehicle completely burned and the woman who was inside it died. Three additional victims suffered minor injuries and were taken to the hospital for treatment.

Police investigators are still trying to determine if alcohol may have played a role in this serious accident. Indeed, authorities will want to at least rule out the possibility of drunk driving charges against the sport utility driver who caused the crash. In accidents like this, authorities will commonly take a look at cell phone records, perform drug and alcohol tests and interview witnesses and victims of the accident to try to piece together exactly what happened. This and other kinds of evidence will also factor heavily in any kind of personal injury claims that a victim or family may wish to pursue relating to damages incurred in a serious New Mexico accident.
