School Principal Allegedly Causes Serious Injury To Student

When we send our children off to school, we expect them to be safe and secure throughout the day. In fact, the last thing that a parent expects is for a teacher to endanger a child’s safety and/or intentionally cause serious injury to a child. Recently, though, an Albuquerque principal was accused of repeatedly slamming a student’s head into a wall and causing him to suffer a concussion.

According to the 12-year-old boy, he was playing with some of his fellow students when there was an altercation. The boy left the scene of the incident in order to tell the school principal about what took place. However, the principal reacted by allegedly slamming his head against the wall, repeatedly.

The boy’s mother took him to the hospital later that day and requested that Albuquerque police meet her at the hospital. According to the woman, hospital records showed evidence that he had suffered a concussion. However, school officials and the police reportedly remain dubious regarding the woman and her son’s version of the facts. One school official says that the principal did not put a hand on the boy and that he only utilized a loud parental tone of voice. Also, police say that they have not found any external evidence that the boy was beaten, nor have they had a chance to view the medical records showing he had a concussion.

The mother of the boy has vowed to pursue legal action in court against the principal and the school. A more detailed review of the facts relating to this case will be necessary to determine its strengths and weaknesses. However, if the evidence supports the accusation that the principal inflicted serious injury upon the child, the boy and his family may be entitled to relief for the financial losses sustained. Bills relating to the child’s visit to the hospital will no doubt be costly, and any financial assistance will be helpful to pay for those costs. Also, if the claims are true, the principal may face full accountability for behavior that is arguably completely inexcusable.
