Nursing home neglect suits filed against facility after 2 deaths

Nursing homes in New Mexico are naturally trusted to properly take care of the residents they receive. In some cases, however, nursing homes end up doing the opposite, thus causing injuries to or the deaths of residents. Two nursing home neglect lawsuits were recently filed against one nursing home in another state.

Older individuals more likely to suffer serious injury to brain

Traumatic brain injury, also known as TBI, is one of the leading causes of disability and death. Serious injury to the brain has become increasingly common today and has been labeled a silent epidemic. Older individuals in New Mexico and other states have a greater likelihood of suffering TBI, and they usually experience worse outcomes and, unfortunately, are more likely to die from their brain injuries when compared to younger adults.

Where to find legal help when nursing home neglect causes injury

In New Mexico and throughout the United States, many people face circumstances that necessitate their taking up residence in nursing homes. This can obviously be an intensely emotional situation and finding just the right care facility is often quite challenging. Though no assisted living arrangement is perfect, nursing home residents have the right to reasonably expect that the care they are given meet with acceptable standards of safety and protocol regulations. Sadly, nursing home neglect remains problematic in many areas and often results in legal action when an injury has occurred due to negligence.

In one out-of-state case, a nursing home reportedly had issues, such as understaffing, that led to the neglect of and injuries to one female resident. A nursing home neglect lawsuit has since been filed against the facility.
